FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Before you email us a question, please check here to see if your question has already been answered.  Even if you don't have any questions, read on to learn more.

  1. What stops people from cheating when answering the trivia contest?
Some people are just going to cheat - nothing is going to be able to stop them - certainly not simple people like us. It's OK.
  2. Your trip isn't really setting a record for longest EV roadtrip. Other people have reported longer trips. What is up with that?
We imagine that others have taken longer roadtrips in an EV, but unfortunately those were not registered with Guinness. No worries, we do not expect to hold this record long. With the new age of EVs, long distance trips are no longer an obstacle. Hopefully, having a separate "longest roadtrip" record for an EV will be considered ridiculous.
  3. What percentage of the donations is Epic EV Roadtrip skimming off of the top before giving it to BGCA?
Epic EV Roadtrip does not receive any portion of the donations, in fact, the money goes right through the "Commit Change" donation portal sends the donations directly to BGCA (less processing fees). Epic EV Roadtrip cannot access the funds.
  4. If you are not making money off of this, then why the heck are you doing this?
We are doing this because we thought it would be a fun adventure and we thought that it would be a great way to help spread awareness of how great EVs have become - and of course, to help raise funds (and potential volunteers) for BGCA. Oh, and we enjoy baseball too.
  5. So you are getting nothing out of this trip?
We are getting a great adventure, endless baseball, and meeting interesting people. While costing countless hours of planning/publicizing the trip, it is costing us significant money (for the website, wear and tear on the car, and other daily expenses) - however, we are having small portions of our expenses defrayed by accepting: rooms from various hotels, food and drink from Subway and Dunkin Donuts, and a bike from Brompton Bikes.
  6. Who is going to win the 2018 World Series?
    The Washington Nationals.
  7. Are you going to be able to set the record for the quickest trip to all 30 MLB ballparks?
We hope so, but it might be out of our hands. Any of the following things could screw us up: Rain Outs, Rain Delays, Extra Innings, Bad Traffic, Car Issues, Oversleeping, Exhaustion, Getting tired of each other, etc.. If we don't break it, it won't be due to driving an EV.
  8. What is your relationship to Tesla (or the MLB, or BGCA)
Neither of us work for, or have a work relationship with any of those three organizations - and we did not seek (or receive) any compensation from any of them.
  1. What part of the trip are you looking forward to the most?
Seeing the newer ballparks (SunTrust, Yankee Stadium, etc,) will be pretty exciting. If we can fit in a tour of the Tesla factory, that would be a great bonus. Hopefully, we can meet up with a number of long distance friends and relatives at many of the ballparks. And if absolute strangers buy us a beer, or a peanuts - that would be the best.
  2. Can we submit questions to add to this section?
Yes, go to the "Contact Us" section and send us an email.
  3. Some of these questions seem made up, or planted - true?
Early in the trip, before we received many questions - we had to make us some, or add ones often asked by our friends. As we going, we will add more. So ask some more and we will replace some of the less interesting ones.
  4. What is with your Washington sports teams?
One of these years, the Nationals and/or Capitals will win it all. Not too sure about the Redskins in the near future. DC United always seem to do well - and the Wizards are just getting better every year. However, Dave and I were fortunately enough to be in the stands to watch the 1988 and 1992 Superbowl wins.
  5. How did you come up with the donation goal of $1.2M?
At first it seemed pretty lofty, but then thinking that it is only $1 per seat of the combined stadiums, and that this is a national event going on for well over a month - $1.2M seemed quite achievable, and maybe even low. Please help us support the kids served by this great organization.
  6. What do you think about the Model 3?
I have only had it for a few days, but it definitely has exceeded all of my expectations. It is a great size for me, it is fun to drive and handles like a champ. I highly recommend it. While this is a long range, the second one that I have on order will likely be a short range version and after tax credits will be under $30K.
  7. Is it a pain to stop to charge the car every 100-200 miles?
With a battery range of 310 miles, we generally are not making stops during legs that are less than 250 miles. For the longer legs, the stops are actually welcome, to stretch our legs, grab a bite, hit the restroom - and end up at our destination more refreshed.
  8. What has been the most frequently asked question?
    This one.
